Bill, your Collegiate 411 article is very informative. I think a lot of people (myself included) are/were unfamiliar about how this process works.
For example, I have a neighbor whose son is a very good hockey player. He played for the Hill School and has a full ride to Penn State. A few years ago, he was drafted in the 13th round of the OHL Priority Selection by the Peterborough Petes. When I asked his father how he was going to handle his son moving to Ontario, he shrugged and said that while it was a great honor for his son to be drafted by an CHL team, he would not be accepting their offer. I was shocked. That is, until he explained to me that because his son was committed to Penn State, he would lose all NCAA eligibility (and I am guessing any scholarship monies) if he played for a CHL team. That is because the NCAA considers it a semi-pro league (due to the stipend the players receive).
His son held firm and was drafted in the 2nd round of the USHL draft by the Des Moines Buccaneers. He lives with a host family out there and he's going into his third season with them. It's been an exciting ride, and I learned a lot about the process by watching them go through it.

Can't believe Gene Hart has been gone 20 years already.
To all Flyers fans - good day, good hockey. |

My brother and I were down a game back in 95. We got there early, as we liked to watch the warmups for the goalies. Well as we're standing there we see Gene Hart approaching. Both of us awe stuck, we weren't sure if we should say hi or not as we didn't want to be a bother. We figured he was heading to the both to call the game.
Well we decided to say hi and ask him how he thought of the Flyers chances were that year. He told us to watch out for the Devils. He thought they were the team to beat. Well he was right, he called it. The Devils won the Cup 4-0 against Detroit.
20 years, it doesn't seem possible. |

Ray Emery had 3 stints with the Flyers? I only remember 2009/2010 and 2013/14. |

If you're only interested in the Philly-centric content, then no. But if you are interested in quality writing across multiple sports in multiple markets, then yes. |

Loved that line brawl with the Caps and Ray skated down Holtby and Holtby said he didn’t want to fight and Ray said we’ll you better defend your self. Then he pummeled him.
That brawl brought the team together. |

I got a year's sub for $30 (half price) last December and I think that was a good deal.

He came back as an emergency 3rd goalie after the 2015-16 trade deadline. Dressed as a backup to Neuvirth in the final game of the regular season (at NYI) after Mason had clinched a playoff spot the previous afternoon. So it counts as an official stint even though he didn't play in a game the third time around. |

Who is the other top 5? - peesinwind
1) Morgan Frost
... the last time the organization had such a dynamic forward prospect in its ranks was ... Claude Giroux ...
2) Joel Farabee
Farabee is the rare high-floor, high-ceiling prospect.
3) Philippe Myers
...all the physical ingredients are there for a future top-half-of-the-lineup defenseman.
4) Cam York
...a defenseman with the talent and smarts, who projects as a probable first- or second-pair defenseman.
T-5) Isaac Ratcliffe
... flashes legitimate potential as a play-driver in addition to his undeniable scoring ability...
T-5) Bobby Brink
If Brink can continue to add power to his skating stride, the sky is the limit for him. |

More valuable would be the PBrendl55 Top 20 Flyers Prospects along with its accompanying analysis of how dumb the Flyers are for having drafted each of these guys and who they should of selected instead.
